This course is appropriate for childcare workers, teachers in public and private schools, homeschooling parents, and independent teachers with students of any age.

Please contact me directly or join the mailing list for information on the T.E.T. course schedule.

T.E.T. is a ten-week, 30-hour program designed to involve participants very actively in their own learning. Teachers will learn “operational definitions” — specific tools, things they can actually say and do — to create a climate of mutual respect in their classrooms.

In T.E.T., teachers learn methods that are substitutes for the use of power and authority — methods that give them more influence, not less, with students of all ages.

We use the following four-step instructional process in each session:

Structure

Instructor presentations, in-class reading, audio-visual aids.

Involvement

Role plays, workbook exercises, one-on-one skill practice.

Process

Group discussions, one-on-one sharing and reflection to explore new learnings and insights.

Application

Individual and group activities to consolidate learning and make specific action plans. Involves workbook and text reading and out-of-class skill practice assignments.

Class Instructor:
Whitney Allen

Hi everyone! I read Parent Effectiveness Training and took a P.E.T. class in 2013, right before I became a young stepmom to two awesome kids. I knew I wasn't their biological parent, and I wanted to create a relationship with them that felt mutually respectful.

P.E.T. changed a
 lot in my life.

I circled back around to Gordon Training in 2022, when I was considering becoming a teacher. I read
Teacher Effectiveness Training (which teaches the same skills as P.E.T., but for the teacher-student relationship). I thought, wow, these skills have done a lot for me and these are what I'd really like to share with others as an instructor.

In 2025, I became a Certified Instructor with
Gordon Training International, and these communication and conflict resolution skills benefit me every day.
